Installs

We were contracted to modernise a country property by making the kitchen and dining room open plan, adding a south facing garden/sunroom onto the rear of the property, and updating the fittings and decor throughout the property. The owner expressed an interest in having multi-room music and video installed throughout the property as this was the most logical opportunity to have it done.
We knew HomeTeck were a company who performed excellent installations and asked them to perform a survey of the property. Due to the amount of disruption underway throughout the property, Mark advised that although it was not necessary to have every room fitted with speakers and televisions at this point in time, it was the perfect opportunity to 'flood' the property with cables to every room so that the system could be expanded at a later date with minimal disruption to the completed decor.
The completed work was large by any standard, over 100 cat5-e cables totalling 1.5 miles together with over 20 coax cables and numerous speaker, alarm and telephone cables were routed throughout (underneath floors and inside walls) resulting in an installation encompassing a 5.1 surround sound home cinema system and remote control lighting in the lounge, a 3 zone multi-room audio/video system (cabled ready for 8 additional zones and an IP cctv camera system), a comprehensive computer LAN and telephone network, and an electronic gates entry system that enables the occupants to use any telephone in the property (or mobile telephone) to both communicate with visitors and operate the gates as well as view visitors from any TV within the property.
The central AV sources consisting of Imerge Music Server, Sky Digibox, DAB Radio, DVD player, VCR and Tape Deck are housed in a custom built cabinet that can be operated from any multi-room zone with the additional benefit of each room being able to share music or video with other rooms or receive music and video independantly of other rooms. Nevo SL LCD remote controls offer 1 touch operation of the home cinema, lighting and multiroom system, and 4-button RF keyfobs operate the electronic gates, garage door and security system. A most comprehensive future proof installation. Thank you HomeTeck.

I purchased a 3 storey town house in 2004 with the intention to fully improve and redecorate. Whilst initially talking to the building improvement contractor, I told him I wished I had the funds to have music throughout the house. He told me about HomeTeck and advised that the costs may not be as high as I anticipated and if I wished to have multi-room music it was best to have it installed before the improvements were complete.
I contacted HomeTeck who came and did a full survey of the property. I had always wanted a Bang & Olufsen system and was very surprised to hear that the cost was not as high as I had anticipated. They came up with a novel solution whereby they could install a multi-room Bang & Olufsen audio system but source a used Bang & Olufsen Overture (the heart of the system) on eBay to reduce my expenditure, explaining that the installation fee for 5 rooms would be on par with the cost of a new Bang & Olufsen Overture. After looking at the Bang & Olufsen product catalogue I decided to have a Bang & Olufsen Beolab 2000 speaker system installed in the same room as the Overture with ceiling speakers in the remaining 4 rooms.
They also suggested it would be wise to have the cabling done ready for garden speakers at a later date and the ability to view SKY and DVD's in other rooms whilst the house was in such disruption. Upon finishing their survey of the property, I decided to also have them install telephone and home computer network points ready for ADSL and install a burglar alarm with fire detectors.
I cannot express how pleased I am with the house now that it is complete. There is not a cable in sight. The Bang & Olufsen Overture sits one foot from the wall and you cannot see any cables to it or the Beolab 2000 speaker system mounted on the wall. Fantastic! I work for a major property developer and the installation in my own home is of a higher standard than show homes I show prospective buyers. I love showing friends and guests around my home.

About 15 years ago I had Bang & Olufsen install a Beocord 5500 whiteline series Hi-Fi system and matching whiteline Beovision LX2802 TV and VX5000 VCR with another LX2502 TV in the master bedroom together with multi-room audio in another 2 rooms. I had never been 100% truly happy with the installation because cables running to the main Beocord 5500 Hi-Fi system made it impossible to close fully the curtains behind the Hi-Fi system and you could also see the cables that ran between the Hi-Fi and TV. And all multi-room cables from the Beocord 5500 ran underneath the windowsill and up a wall in plastic conduit.
In 2004 I decided the house could benefit from some extensive improvement work consisting of combining the kitchen, utility room and dining room for an open plan effect. I have known Mark of HomeTeck for many years and asked him to advise if the present cabling situation could be improved, together with expanding the multi-room audio to an additional room without disturbing the solid hardwood floors.
Mark advised that the cables could be hidden with minimal disruption to the flooring by slightly modifying the Bang & Olufsen stereo stand (cutting a hole in the base leg of the unit) and cutting a single 2" hole into the flooring so that all cables ran inside the leg of the unit and underneath the floor. He advised the cables running to the TV and up the walls could be hidden behind skirting boards and plasterwork and the additional room of audio would only require a small amount of plasterwork to finish the install. Mark also noticed trailing telephone cables and advised these could also be hidden and with some rewiring work and could also be made ADSL ready.
After discussing the improvement plans of the whole property, I also asked for additional television points to be wired for further multi-room video. The finished result is amazing. I wish I had HomeTeck do the initial installation all those years ago, I would have saved a small fortune. But I'll be contacting HomeTeck again when I finally replace the Bang & Olufsen TV with a plasma and upgrade to a full home cinema system.

Our installations and care for detail are second to none. Large scale installations whereby the client naturally wishes a professional finish (all cables to be hidden within walls and underneath flooring) will result in some disruption to decor. Most customers prefer to have such installs performed during home improvement projects or redecoration, but for those customers who are not having installations performed at such a time, we endeavour to maintain our high standards with minimal disruption and tradesmen are on hand to refinish disrupted decor.
